Featured Shop of the Week: A Single Dream

"A Single Dream is Worth a Thousand Realities." -- J.R.R. Tolkien
A Single Dream
Our featured shop this week is A Single Dream, a designer of beautifully handcrafted jewelry pieces. Keep reading to find out more about her shop, and enter to win a pair of earrings.

Creator, designer & owner of  A Single Dream, Christine says, "I have always kind of felt that I was born in the wrong time period, so strong is my love for all things vintage.  I am always most attracted to antique jewelry; victorian, art deco and even boho, and I like to give a bit of vintage flavor to a lot of my work while creating something that someone would want to wear -now-."

"I'm also motivated by the whimsical --  fantasy, myth and romance, and the child within me that believes in magic and miracles has never died.  I'm enchanted by sparkle, movement and vivid colors, and like to bring that into my designs."

Christine adds, "My favorite work is custom, as it allows me to meld the preferences of the customer with my own style and deliver something that they are as happy to wear as I was to make it. While I always strive to give the customer what they are looking for, I have never made anything I wouldn't personally wear."

Christine grew up with the belief that handmade gifts were always the best, and she loves to meet other crafty merchants and promote handmade businesses.

Like many other crafters & small business owners, Christine says time constraints are the hardest part of having your own business. "There just aren't enough hours in the day to do all the things I want to do.  There are always ideas in my head for the next pair of earrings or some sort of theme or technique that I would like to explore."

Christine's favorites include the color purple, sunflowers & Gerbera daisies (me too!). Her favorite animals are foxes, and she loves autumn. She adds, "Strange fact about me: I have always been oddly fascinated by spherical shaped things."

"I don't want you to like your jewelry from A Single Dream;  I want you to be delighted by it, and the experience that you have shopping in my store.  Jewelry is a luxury item, and the experience of buying and wearing it should be equal to the expense."
