Featured Shop of the Week: Crystalized Designs

I am pleased to introduce you to our featured shop this week, Crystalized Designs

Hi! I'm Crystal from Crystalized Designs and I love everything crochet! I taught myself how to crochet and it became a huge part of my life when I was put on bed rest with my second child. Not being able to do much, I started making photography props for when my son would be born and I have only gotten more in depth in crochet. I started by working off of others' patterns. When I joined one of my favorite designers testing groups, I was encouraged to start designing myself. I love coming up with new idea, using new stitches. But I still also love to work off patterns from the countless other great designers!!

My biggest challenge of having my own business is taking the right amount of time out for my family. Because crochet is something I love to do, I often find myself putting off things that shouldn't be. My children are growing so fast and several times a week I catch myself mid-stitch, put down my project and go play with them. Before I know it, the won't want to play with me and I don't want to look back and think, "if I only hadn't crocheted so much!"

Obviously, my favorite way to relax is to crochet. This year my family got a pool and I'm bound and determined to find a way to crochet will relaxing in the pool! I love to surf pinterest and find great recipes (and crochet projects!)

Without my fans, I wouldn't be where I am today. I can make a million things but if I only have a husband that tries to act interested in my projects and other family members that I feel 'have to' like my things, it just isn't the same as a complete stranger buying my items because they like them, because they love them! I am honored that I can do something I love and have so many people enjoy the same things I do!

Frayed Knot had the biggest impact on me as a designer. She always encouraged and offered advice that I will forever be grateful for. She's one of the sweetest designers I know!

My photographer has really helped me push for great photography props. I love seeing what she comes up with in photos with my items and since that, I've moved on to more child, teen and adult items.

Crochet is my stress reliever. Crochet is my relaxing time. Crochet, besides my family, is my life! My family is my biggest motivation, hoping one day they will look at me as a designer instead of someone who can just make them all the hats they can dream of! (They're 2 and 4 and that's all that matters right now!) I love sharing this craft with them, and with the entire crochet community!
