Ruched Ribbon Zinnia Flower Tutorial

The Zinnia Ribbon flower is one of my favorites, but I don't make it very often. It can be quite time consuming, but it makes a fun, unique flower. I find it easiest to use a 7/8" or 1" wide ribbon, but other sizes can be used as well.

Be a Doll- Help Make a Difference

The talented Cody from Lu & Ed has something special to announce-- the latest collaboration from Team Lu & Ed! Keep reading to learn more about this new product, and how it can help children in our area.

Toys should make childhood colorful & fun - and I like to think that is exactly what the latest Team Lu & Ed products do!

The Mollie Shop teamed up with Lu & Ed to create ten handmade, one of a kind fabric dolls for kids, which launched today in Lu & Ed's shop! Each one reps Team Lu & Ed by wearing the easily recognizable Team Lu & Ed colors: bright red, bright blue, chartruese, tangerine and sunshine yellow!  These dolls are available here.

Each adorable dollie has their own name, personality and story, and will be making a difference in the lives of children in Kansas City, Missouri - $20 from the purchase of each doll will be donated to Drumm Farm Center for Children, a group home for children in foster care in Kansas City!

How can you help?  All purchases of Team Lu & Ed products will benefit children in need, but you can also help without spending a penny by spreading the Team Lu & Ed mission to use artistic collaborations to bring joy to the children in need of big smiles! In addition to these radical dolls, there is also limited edition art prints, Christmas ornaments and hair accessories by various artists in the Team Lu & Ed collection. A portion of the proceeds from each benefits Drumm Farm! Here is the link for Team Lu & Ed products. Tweet it, Facebook it, G+ it, blog about it - every little bit helps and Team Lu & Ed members will give you mucho love and big virtual hugs! ♥

Witch Hat Cookies

Thank you to my friend at Just Cheeky Boutique for giving me the idea for these cookies! They are really cute, and so simple to make. This was a great project for me to have my preschooler help and learn to follow simple directions.

You only need 2 ingredients- thin mint cookies (or any chocolate cookie), and Hershey's Kisses. Start by melting a few Kisses over a double boiler. While you are waiting for these to melt, start unwrapping the other Kisses you will use to make the hats.

Reversible Tote Tutorial

Kelly from Kiser Krafts our guest blogger this week, and is here to teach us how to make a reversible tote bag!

Oh what is in a tote?? Totes are practical for so many things. Lu & Ed is my tote
inspiration! The Monster Totes are completely EPIC! (If you need something for trick or treating, you need one of her totes!) So, I decided to make my own reversible tote to carry my craft supplies. And here is how I did it.

Featured Shop of the Week- Hamburke's Hair Bows

Meet this week's featured shop, Hamburke's Hair Bows, and the talented indie crafter Karin Wallace.

I got started with hair bows when trying to find something to keep my girls hair clips in. I've always been crafty and started making bows for them and their friends. I added crochet hats to my shop when my friends had babies.

Last year, I added fabric sandwich bags after constantly running out of plastic bags - best part was that I found out what my kids were eating and not eating since they didn't dump stuff in the trash can! I worked in environmental science after college and have always done a lot of recycling. I realized that I needed to also REDUCE and REUSE!

Boarded Window Halloween Decoration DIY

GipsonWands is here to share his method for making a spooky boarded-up window decoration for Halloween.

With Halloween quickly approaching I thought I share an easy, spooky, and eco-friendly decoration that you can create out of an old pallet. So here’s a step by step to creating a boarded up window without actually nailing boards over the windows.

The first thing you need to do is get a pallet, the more rough looking the better, and disassemble it.

Then get your handy dandy drill, or power screwdriver, 8 to 10 wood screws long enough to go into two boards but not all the way through the back of the second (this length will vary depending on the manufacturer or the pallet), four eyelets or hooks, and some heavy cording. Plus you’ll need a measuring device of some kind.

Change the World Wednesday- Vegan Recipes

This week the CTWW challenge was to have (at least) one vegan meal. We generally eat 1-2 vegetarian meals a week, so having a vegan meal wasn't too difficult. My favorite this week was altering the Yellow Curry recipe (below). Just remove the chicken, and we added butternut squash and peas. It was wonderful!

I decided to make a round-up of all the vegetarian or vegan recipes on the blog. (Some of them aren't written as vegan meals, but could easily be made into one). Enjoy!

Featured Shop of the Week- Pattern Paradise

This week's featured shop is Pattern Paradise- a great place to find crochet patterns for all occasions.
Owner Maria says, Pattern Paradise got started quite by accident. Many years ago, I started a tradition of making a baby blanket for each friend's new baby. Now those babies are having babies of their own and I decided to continue the tradition....a handmade blanket for my friends' babies' baby! Someone saw my work and encouraged me to sell custom products.
