Featured Shop of the Week- Nrrdknits

This week our featured shop is NrrdKnits, and owner Amanda Moore.

http://nrrdknits.storenvy.com/

It all started when I decided to auction off the chance for someone to have their character made into a doll, on a MORPG that I was playing a few years ago. I received 10 million zenny, in game money, for the doll. He is a high priest named Mr. Fish, who is very happy in Canada with his human counterpart. The idea of starting a legitimate business from a hobby is a huge undertaking, and there have been hiccups and small problems along the way. I am very glad to say we have the foundation for a great team of artisans and brilliant minds working to come up with the best that geekery, or anything really has to offer.

Grow Herbs in Your Kitchen!

This week we have a special guest contributor, Katie F. on behalf of Hefty®. She's here to give you some suggestions for growing herbs indoors. (photos courtesy of Violet's Buds)

Rosemary
Fresh herbs can be expensive to buy all the time; oftentimes, they don’t last very long either.  Why not just grow herbs in your kitchen?  That way you’ll always have fresh herbs whenever you need them right where you need them!  Basil, cilantro, and rosemary are all popular herbs, but you could choose to grow any of your favorite herbs.  Pick out multiple small pots for planting your herbs in and decide on a sunny area for where you will keep them.  Now that spring is nearing, seeds should be easy to come by.  Any store with a Home and Garden section will most likely have a selection of seeds for growing herbs, as well as several online seed catalogs. Following the instructions on the seed packet, add soil to the pots, plant the seeds, and make sure to water the plants often.

A Big Thank You

I am so very thankful to all of the customers, fans, friends, and fellow makers that have supported Violet's Buds for the past 3 years. Starting a handmade business was scary, and I could not have succeeded without this great community. Additionally, the creative outlet has had such a positive influence in my life, and I adore my maker friends!

While I'm anxiously awaiting the giveaway that starts on Thursday, March 20th, I want to give a special shout out to the following shops that have generously donated prizes for the celebration. Please visit their shops, and greet them on social media.

Eco Awesome Shopping

I am excited to announce that Violet's Buds and GipsonWands, and our friend Lu & Ed, will be attending the Mini-Zeleny eco-friendly indie arts and crafts fair! Rather than one big show, this year Zeleny will take place on the last Friday of the month from 6-9pm. The new location is at the Parkville Artisan Studio at 111 Main Street, in Parkville, MO. The first craft fair night is on Friday, March 28th.

Check out the event page, Zeleny on Facebook, or Zeleny's website for more details, and see what other eco-friendly indie shops will be attending. If you have a green shop, you can submit your application to attend an upcoming Mini-Zeleny event. We hope to see you there!

Featured Shop of the Week- Adore By Nat

I'd like to welcome this week's featured shop, Adore by Nat, and introduce you to Natalie, the person behind the pretty party supplies.

http://adorebynat.storenvy.com

I am a mom to a 6 year old boy and a wife to a wonderful loving husband. I left my professional career in Human Resources when my son was born. Adore By Nat began when I started making handmade cards in 2004. It started as a way of supporting my cardmaking hobby.
